MikkeliMikkeli is placed in Finland. More exactly in the south east of Finland, in the Savo region. Even if it only has arround 30000 inhabitants, it is a quite important town in Finland. It was founded 160 years ago (there was an aniversary on 1998). But don't get confused with this stuff: there was people living in this place 1000 years ago. But on that time the Zar came and said that now they were living in a town named Mikkeli. Anyway, the town has not so old monuments. The cathedral (the one on the picture) is only 200 years old. And the downtown was rebuild after the war.
In fact it looks like this. Not so different from any awfull suburb mall. There are some nice old places on the north of the city. There are many red wooden houses placed on hills arround some small ponds. Really nice place. Continuing with this picutre, you can get a slight idea how summer looks like in Mikkeli. This is because in this picture there is no rain at all. Finland in summer means mostly rain!! Don't trust the travel guides!! Where do you think the 1000 lakes get the water from?
In Winter is when Mikkeli looks nicer. Snow comes and covers all places. The streets look completely different, as you stop to know where the pavement finishes. In fact, as you can see you can even ski in middle of the street. There are snowmachines working whenever it snows, but they don't take out all the snow. They simply make the snow cover thinner. So, all cars should wear winter weels.
